Secret's Out!

I'm Pregnant!!!!!

We have known for about 5 weeks now that we are expecting baby #2. We were not trying to get pregnant, but we trust in a mighty God who knows our plans before we do. (For the record, Leeland was unplanned as well. It happens!) When I first took the pregnancy test and broke the news to Daniel, we were both in shock for a few days.... and then in denial. When we had found out we were pregnant with Leeland in 2009, we told our families right away.... This time, it took a few weeks for it to sink in. It's not a bad thing, and we aren't disappointed, we're actually super excited! We just needed a little processing time for the "unexpected" this time around. As of today, I am 10 weeks and 3 days along and the estimated due date is February 22, 2012. We finally broke the news to the Facebook world and the Twitter world last night, and I figured I'd blog a little today. (So sorry I have been such a bad blogger by the way...) At least now you know why I have been avoiding the blog.

1.) I'm not very good at secrets and was very tempted to let the cat out of the bag on my blog-- I mean, I don't have that many followers anyway.

2.) I have been VERY sick and VERY tired for the past few weeks and have kind of become a lump on the couch. I am slowly getting my energy back the past couple of days, which is truly fabulous. Definitely ready to get into the 2nd trimester!

We have a day full of errands ahead of us, so I have to run but I couldn't blog without a few pictures to share. We received a new ulrasound machine at work last week and I got to be the guinea pig to test it out and make sure it works! So here is our little peanut! This was my VERY FIRST time seeing him/her at 10 weeks pregnant. I was quite emotional. And with all of the excitement of the new machine there was about 15 people in the room witnessing the very same little heartbeat, all of us completely in awe of God's creation. Enjoy!

I was told he/she was relaxing. He/she had it's arms crossed just lying down.

Goat Lady Dairy

You should know in advance that this post is picture heavy.... But it is SO worth it!

Last night was DATE NIGHT!  They are very few and far between here at the Kroh house since we have Mr. Leeland on our hands. He went to his Nana and Papa's last night while we were out and he even spent the night with them-- his VERY FIRST overnight away from Mommy. My baby is growing up! We picked him up this morning and enjoyed breakfast with my parents at a little hole in the wall restaurant called "Frank and Larry's." Delicious food, and good country folk can be found there, it was perfect!

Back to last night though.... Last night we enjoyed fine dining at Goat Lady Dairy. It's located in the small town of Climax which I grew up in.  The Goat Lady is very well-known around here for the most fabulous goat cheese, and there are many Saturday's that I can be found at the local Farmer's Market seeking specifically Goat Lady Dairy goat cheese. The Dairy hosts dinners on the farm a couple times a month.  You get a thorough tour of the farm which includes seeing and even petting the goats and you are served a 5 course meal of local and farm fresh food.  Much of the food is from the farm and some comes from local sister farms.  Because the food is always fresh and in season, you don't know the menu until a couple days before the dinner. I have to say that I really enjoyed the mysteriousness of it all, and the excitement of opening the email to find the menu.  Here's a little bit of our fun and what we enjoyed:
"Goat beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
Our evening started with appetizers on the porch, followed by the farm tour.
Appetizers were served on the porch: Cherry tomatoes stuffed with Cilantro Queso Fresco. Delish!!!
We learned about sustainable gardening. (chicken on the loose!)
Saw some really cool bees! They're very important for pollination and garden growth.
This is the barn.
Another shot of the barn-- we dined inside.

LOTS of chickens! They were beautiful!

And of course the goats!
Each goat had a name tag-- this was Angie

I fell in love with the Nubian Goats-- they have long floppy ears and are adorable!
We got to see 2 baby goats.
And we were surprised to learn that goats have personalities like dogs and really enjoy being pet.
After the farm tour, it was time to head inside for our meal.
An assortment of Goat Lady Dairy cheeses served with pita chips.

And wine!
Gazpacho con Tropezones
This was a fire roasted corn and cucumber salad with goat cheese and chili plantain chips.
Free range chicken and goat cheese enchiladas with a jalapeno corn muffin
Daniel devoured his enchiladas-- not too big on spicy though, so no jalapeno muffin for him.

Dessert was homemade shortbread with vanilla ice cream (from my favorite, HOMELAND CREAMERY) with a brandy and blackberry sauce. This was all my dreams come true!
Our chef!
And then even after all of that, we got goat cheese chocolate truffles that were wrapped and ready to go. And there was decaf coffee brewed and ready out on the porch if you wanted. Didn't get a picture of my truffle-- just being honest with you guys, I devoured it in the car on the ride home.

The whole experience was fabulous!!!  Daniel and I both thoroughly enjoyed the food. I was nervous going in to this experience with Daniel being such a picky eater, but he really loved it and said that he had a great time! A special thanks to the Goat Lady Dairy for having us and also for running an awesome special this month which made it easier for us to go.  If you're in the area, you should definitely check it out!  If you'd like more information on the dairy, visit their website Goat Lady Dairy

Lightning McQueen

One of my sister's friends ordered a cake from me this week for her son's 3rd birthday party. He was having a "Cars" party and specifically requested "Lightning McQueen" and it was also said that the cake had to have some blue and green on it.  So this is what I came up with:

Happy 4th of July!

Hey Friends! Hope you all had a happy and safe 4th of July. Nothing too eventful happened here. I did have a 4 day weekend which was quite exciting, but I honestly didn't do much with it. I haven't been feeling too well the past few days so I have done a lot of lounging around the house and playing with the little man. Today Daniel and I did catch up a little on some much needed house work though. Sadly we didn't go see fireworks-- for whatever reason, I was against it much of the day. I was thinking that Leeland would be scared of them (because he is scared of most things) and he goes to bed at 8, and fireworks probably wouldn't start until at least 930.  I was thinking that keeping him up, would prove to be a challenge and there would be lots of fussiness.  Then tonight as I sit here, I'm thinking "what a party pooper!!" We should've taken him to see his 1st fireworks and if he didn't like them, then we just drive home.  O' well! Here are some patriotic photos of our boy.

So thankful to be Americans today and always! So thankful for our freedom and for all of those brave men and women who have fought and even laid down their lives for us.  Continuing to keep our soldiers and our governmental officials in my prayers.
